Subject: DEC trout management plan study

Because some folks raised concerns about anglers wading thru redds,  dislodging/trampling trout eggs, hooking, catching and mishandling spawning trout, the DEC in 2021 began a study of selected "wild trout" stream reaches.  

The objectives of the study 2021-2024 are:

1. Assess negative impact on young of year trout populations resulting from the extended season
   October 16 thru March 31.  YOY surveys.

2. Determine the amount of angling pressure for the extended season October 16 - March 31.
Angler counts.
