Fly of the Week: Autumn Wulff:

Hook: SE-1 #10-12

Thread: 8/0 orange
Tail: Moose
Body: Cinnamon caddis, "superfine"
Wing: Orange Calf tail
Hackle: Dark ginger & Grizzley

This is one of my fun flies I tie, we do not sell in shop "yet", I call it the Autumn Wulff to match the fall, I also learned that when there is plenty of leaves on the water and those darn trout are sipping small olives between the leaves you can't see the olives or where the fly lands. So in frustation, I tied on an October caddis, I could see it and work the mend and placement among the leaves, a brown came up took the caddis and I missed, so on my next back cast I left the caddis in the tree or brush behind me, no more caddis, what do I do? I had tied a variety of Wulff's in different colors, so I thought the Autumn Wulff best resembled the October caddis in color. Few cast's later a Brown came up and ate it along with 4 more! A great fly for the fall when theres a ton of leaves on the water. This is the last fly of the week till next year!

Special Thanks to Joe Rist, MHTU Member and owner of Trout Town Flies in Roscoe, NY. for his Fly of the Week, the last one for the 2020 season.
